Visiting Chicago for the weekend? This 48-hour food guide is designed for a classic Saturday–Sunday stay, highlighting the best bites to hit when you only have two full days in the city.
SATURDAY
BREAKFAST

Location and price: West Town ($20-30)
Why you should go: Your chance to try the famous breakfast sandwich featured in The Bear, and it more than lives up to the hype. Simply delicious, but be prepared for long lines — waits can stretch up to two hours on popular days. Check out my full Kasama experience.
What to order: Breakfast sandwich – hashbrown, egg, and cheese (available until 12pm so recommend ordering ahead/while in line)
LUNCH

Location and price: West Loop/Fulton Market ($30-50)
Why you should go: Delicious and honestly one of the most beautiful burgers I’ve laid eyes on, Au Cheval fully earns its spot among Chicago’s best. It’s definitely on the pricier side, but this is one splurge that’s completely worth it.
What to order: Single cheeseburger (comes with two patties and is incredibly filling). You can add thick-cut peppered bacon or an egg, but honestly, it’s excellent on its own.
DINNER

Location and price: West Town ($30-50)
Why you should go: Truly one of the best Italian gems in the city. An intimate spot with a great patio for warm nights, plus fantastic rigatoni alla vodka and unbelievably tender ribs.
What to order: Rigatoni Alla Vodka, Cherry Pepper Ribs, Mozzarella En Carozza
SUNDAY
BREAKFAST

Location and price: Lincoln Park and South Loop ($20-30)
Why you should go: Some of the best French toast I’ve had in Chicago—perfectly indulgent and worth the hype. It’s a cozy, local-feeling brunch spot that makes you want to linger a little longer.
What to order: The French Toast Flight
LUNCH

Location and price: Lincoln Park ($20-30)
Why you should go: Chicago’s favorite deep-dish spot, known for its beautifully caramelized crust. A low-key, dim setting that’s perfect for settling in and enjoying every bite.
What to order: Chicago lunch special – $8.95 for a personal pan cheese pizza (toppings are extra) + French Fries
DINNER

Location and price: Lakeview ($20-30)
Why you should go: Tuk Tuk has flavor-packed, delicious Thai food—hands down the best I’ve had in the city. Served in a brightly and beautifully colored space that makes the whole experience even better.
What to order: Pad Thai, Pad See Eiw, Mango Sticky Rice, Butterfly Pea Lime Juice
