Tex-Mex – Andersonville
Flavor Scale (1-5): 2.5
My friend and I tried this Tex-Mex all-day bar and restaurant, with high hopes. The restaurant had great vibes and the staff were very friendly.
Diving into the menu, I ordered the Rodrigoʼs Al Pastor taco with marinated pork shoulder, pineapple, onion, pineapple habanero salsa, and cilantro. They had a few spirit-free drink options so I ordered a non-alcoholic raspberry-flavored margarita. Meanwhile, my friend selected the fried chicken taco with pimento cheese, jalapeño ranch, hot sauce, lettuce, and flour tortilla. To share, we had chips and guacamole.
The Rodrigo’s Al Pastor tacos had a decent amount of flavor and were a decent size. I thought the pineapple complemented the marinated pork well. However, I didn’t like the large amounts of oil seeping out of the tacos. The NA margarita was pretty but I personally did not like the taste and didn’t finish it. My friend did not like her fried chicken tacos at all. It was too spicy for her and she found the chicken way too dry. The chips and guacamole were good.
Overall, Lonesome Rose is a very cute spot but we unfortunately found the food subpar.
